From 1 January 2024, sorting biodegradable waste will be mandatory throughout Latvia. At the same time, sorting waste will become even more economical from next year, as the biodegradable waste management tariff will be reduced to 40% below the charge for unsorted household waste.

Sorting bio-waste not only reduces your bill, but also makes it available as a valuable resource for producing heat, gas and compost.

Rīgas ūdens will continuously monitor the situation, carefully tracking the chlorine concentration in the water. Although it poses no health threat, it is recommended to use boiled water for consumption during disinfection of the water mains and for 24 hours afterwards.
